Category:Technical Articles

Daily Maintenance Requirements

1. Handling abnormal situations: If dripping, leakage, emission, or spillage occurs inside the cabinet, appropriate action must be taken immediately after wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

2. Keep the cabinet clean: When not in use, the cabinet doors should remain closed to prevent dust accumulation and reduce potential safety risks.

3. Regular inspection and lock maintenance: During normal use, clean stains with a dry cloth only. Do not use detergents or chemical cleaners.

Every six months to one year, or if the key becomes difficult to insert or remove, apply a small amount of graphite powder (pencil powder) into the keyhole for lubrication.

Do NOT use liquid lubricants, as oil may cause internal components to stick and prevent the lock from operating.

If the door is difficult to close, apply a small amount of graphite powder to the latch to improve operation.

Requirements for Hazardous Chemical Storage

1. Mixing is strictly prohibited: Chemicals with incompatible properties must be stored separately and never mixed.

2. Clearly define chemical label information: All chemicals and prepared reagents must have compliant labels. Chemicals without labels, with unclear or incomplete information, or with multiple old and new labels must not be stored in the cabinet.

3. Store in an airtight container: All stored chemicals must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage and vapor release.

4. Solid and liquid separate, solid on top, liquid below: When solids and liquids are stored in the same cabinet, follow the principle of separating solids and liquids, with solids placed above liquids.

5. Stronger at the top and weaker at the bottom, lighter at the top and heavier at the bottom: For chemicals with different volatility levels, store stronger volatile chemicals on lower shelves and lighter-weight items on upper shelves whenever possible.

6. Overloading is strictly prohibited: Ensure even load distribution on shelves and never exceed the rated load capacity.

7. Control total storage: The total storage amount per cabinet must comply with Article 26 of the “Regulations on Public Security Administration of Explosive-Precursor Chemicals,” and must not exceed 50 kg per cabinet.

Requirements for Dedicated Safety Cabinets

1. Storage environment: The cabinet should be placed in a cool, dry, shaded, and well-ventilated area, away from fire sources, heat sources, electrical equipment, and spark-generating devices.

2. Grounding installation: Connect one end of the grounding wire to the grounding screw on the lower-left side of the cabinet and attach the other end to the facility’s static grounding point.

3. Cabinet ventilation: Open the air inlet and exhaust ports on both sides of the cabinet to allow effective natural ventilation.

Hazardous Chemical Management Requirements

1. Basic requirements: Personnel must be familiar with the SDS of each chemical and understand the appropriate emergency response procedures.

2. Receipt and Storage System: Implement a dual-person system for custody, access, use, and locking.
Establish inspection and registration records for all in-and-out movements, with real-name documentation, and regularly verify inventory levels.

3. Fire extinguishing methods: Firefighting methods must strictly follow the instructions specified in the chemical safety documentation, using appropriate extinguishing agents.

4. Leakage handling: Control the leak source, use professional absorbent materials to contain the spill, dilute and cover using appropriate materials, and finally collect and dispose of the waste properly.
